Starting Over

Many of us, in our lives, would have liked to have a “do over” button. Sometimes it was a sin that was in your life, sometimes it was a project that you did that didn’t turn out the way you wanted it to or maybe it was a relationship gone bad that you would change things if you could. I would like to share with you today that God is a God of “Starting Over” and “Second Chances”. Why do you think that He made 24 hours in a day? Every day is a new day, what you did yesterday, good or bad is gone. You can’t get it back. So start over and make it better today.

I have, hanging in my office, the story of the Two Wolves. One day an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people. He said, “My son, the battle is between two “wolves” inside us all. One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, doubt, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego. (Taken from Galatians 5: 19–21)

The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, forgiveness, truth, compassion and faith. (Taken from Galatians 5:22-23)

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: “Which wolf wins?” The old Cherokee replied, “The one you feed.”

Now if you didn’t do well yesterday, start over today. Galatians 5:24 -25 says, “And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit”

So if you live your life today with the knowledge that you can please God, then that’s what you focus on. Galatians 5:16 says, “...Walk in the Spirit and ye shall not fulfill the lusts of the flesh.”

Galatian 5:1 “Stand fast in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage”

The truth is, many of you do not do things that grieve the Spirit, but you don’t always do things that totally glorify the Lord. I will not get into all the things that you don’t do to glorify the Lord, because all of you know what those are. Anything done to promote yourself or please yourself is not for the glory of God. I Corinthians 10:31, “Whether therefore ye eat or drink or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.”

So, if you want to do a “start over”, start everyday by reading the Word of God, then study it. Then, pray that the Holy Spirit would lead and guide you through the day, then pay attention to the Spirit’s leading.

Thank God, I don’t have to repeat yesterday. I am forgiven and free to serve the Lord with everything I do.

So very true but I don't do start overs. I like starting new and praying for a better day each day. Each day is a blessing just to wake up and prayer can start you in the right direction each new day. Bless you for encouraging people when we need it the most.

Great and inspiring words from a man that lives by it. Encouragement that’s needed in these days. Thx Stan, you are the man.
